About Us
During lockdown, clarinettist & composer Emma Johnson MBE wrote a clarinet concerto entitled Tree of Life, which was inspired by a need to express something in music about the climate crisis. The piece had its first performance in the Kentish village of Lamberhurst, played by a hand-picked team of like-minded musicians, and this led to many more performances throughout the UK.
Composed of highly expert, sought-after players, the orchestra aims to give concerts of the highest possible standard to highlight the wonders of nature and the need to take action to combat climate change.
Recent concerts have included works by Holst, Puccini, Vaughan Williams, Tchaikovsky, Gershwin, Dvorak & Mozart.
"Emma Johnson and the Orchestra for the Environment are certainly doing their bit with their outstanding quality of playing and their thought-provoking programmes."
